Death the Kid sighed as he looked at the dark street before you. You were surprised that you had been paired with him on this mission ... you had admired him for a long time ... and had a little crush on him. You knew it would be better to stay friends, because he was a great friend. You looked at your weapon partner, who was currently in their weapon form - a longbow. She was unusually quiet ...
"Hey, why so quiet, Gaia?" You asked
"Nothing, I'm just bored" She said
"(Name) ... it's best the two of you stay as quiet as possible. We are hunting a very dangerous target" Kid said
"Sorry ..." You mumbled
"I'll go on ahead. Wait here" He said, venturing further down the street
You had a bad feeling about this ... like ... something was about to go wrong. As if on cue, Kid was blown back and struck the wall closest to you
"Kid!" You cried
He got up. He had a very dark look on his face
"Don't worry about me. We've got company" He said
You readied Gaia and took a deep breath as your target came out of the darkness of the street. It was a foul being, one that had slipped from humanity ... one that was so close to becoming a Kishin
"Hey, Kid ... that thing has got a leg missing" You said
He looked at it and a dark look descended upon his eyes
"Yes ... it sickens me" He hissed
You knew that would be the only way to keep him focussed on the monster ... seeing as Kid had left a huge dent in the wall that he collided with
"Liz, Patty"
"We're on it"
"Yeah!"
"(Name), are you ready?" He asked
"As I'll ever be ..." You replied, taking a deep breath
The creature charged at you and you used Gaia to shoot arrows that were made out of your soul wavelength. It screeched as one arrow hit its eye and Kid began to shoot at it
"You disgust me!" He shouted
It staggered back and you readied your next shot
"You're good" You said, smiling
"Now's not the time for compliments. We have to stay alert" He said, focussed on the job in hand
Suddenly the creature disappeared
"Crap, where did it go?!" He panicked
"I-I'm sorry!" She breathed, upset
"You are useless" He hissed
Those words cut you deep ... deeper than any real injury could possibly be. Suddenly, you were struck down by the creature
"(Name)!"
You fell to the floor, bleeding heavily and dropping Gaia
"Kid, do something!"
Your vision began to blur. But you saw the look on Kid's face as clear as day
"You ruined her perfect symmetry! And for that, you will die!" He hissed
You felt your life slipping away ... as you closed your eyes ...

"She's waking up!"
"Oh ... thank goodness!"
You opened your eyes. You were in a hospital bed ... and covered in bandages. Your friends were all around you smiling ... except for Kid. He looked like he was being torn apart from the inside
"You're gonna have one cool scar, (Name). I'm jealous!" Soul said, laughing
Maka hit him on the head with a book and you smiled, too weak to laugh
"You sure had us worried" Tsubaki said
"Yeah, you sure took a beating" Liz said
Patty laughed
"Kid cried!" She said, smiling
You looked at him and he looked away angrily
"It's a good thing you didn't die ... I wouldn't have known how to deal with that" Crona mumbled
"Wh-where's Gaia?" You asked, concerned for your weapon partner's safety
"She's gone to get you a clean set of clothes" Maka said
You sighed
"You guys are the best" You said, smiling
You noticed Kid's expression and became concerned
"Hey, could I talk to Kid alone for a second?" You asked
The others smiled and nodded. Kid looked confused as the others left the room. But Black Star had to be dragged out by poor Tsubaki. Kid approached you cautiously
"What's up, Kid?" You asked
"I feel awful for saying such a cruel thing to you. I ... wasn't thinking straight. I was consumed by anger at the asymmetrical fiend that attacked me" He said
You smiled
"It's ok ..." You said
"No, it's not! What if that had been the last thing I said to you?" He said, stressed
You hadn't really thought about it. It probably would have haunted him for the rest of his life ... and that was a very unpleasant thought
"I ... I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if that was the last thing you heard me say. I care about you, (Name)" He said
Your face went as red as a ripe tomato as you remembered what you heard him say before passing out. He came closer and planted a kiss on your cheek before leaving. Your heart almost stopped
